Past Successes
State Saved Up To $6 Million Per Year Through Vehicle Fleet Changes & $28
Million From Sale Of State Cars: In 2006, the state’s Budget Director
reported that the state was saving $5 million to $6 million a year with improved management
of its vehicle fleet and had captured a one-time savings of $28 million from various
policy changes including the selling of excess vehicles.
New Office Supplies - Contract Saved $102,000: In 2004, the state
entered into a new office supply contract to save $102,000 per year, for a total year-to-date
savings of $357,000 through fiscal year 2007. An example of savings
includes a reduction in the price of a box of paper clips from 12 cents to 7 cents.
Saved $13 Million By Collaborating Pharmaceutical Efforts: The Sebelius
administration collaborated on pharmaceutical purchasing efforts for a savings of $13,730,000.
$813 Million Saved In Transportation Program: By streamlining the
state’s transportation program, $813 million was saved.
Renegotiated State Contracts To Save Money: The Sebelius administration
renegotiated several state contracts to save money. These included renegotiating the
state toner contract saving $462,000; the contract for paper towel dispensers saving
$24,036 per year; and the state copier contract saving $888,443.
